Task 3

PALETTE

Welcome to Task 3 of Builders Corp. 3. This week we are elated to announce that Builders Corp. 1 & 2 winners Doglover53 and xKimiex will be taking over the judging panel!

Your challenge this week is to construct a build with a limited colour palette. Pick different colours of similar tone and use furniture of those colours only to construct anything of your choice.

(This doesn't mean the same shade of 1 colour. Pick colours that compliment one another.)

This week we'd like to offer you the option to crop your rooms any way you'd like.

(Please refer to the cover photo.)

Maximum Room Size:

5x6

.COM user kovsky. has generously donated 60c to the builder who achieves first place this week. Good luck.

Good results this week. Please note, the scores are averaged between the 2 judges this week. Though you may have been scored high with one judge, you could've been scored low with the other. You all have it in you to win this competition! We thank our previous winners xKimiex and Doglover53 for taking over and doing our jobs this week. Happy reading, please see the progress page for your individual ranking.Good luck.

I was THRILLED when I saw this build! It looks super realistic and the colors you used blend together perfectly. The way you used the rain and shadows to tone down some of the lighter colored furniture shows that you really had a grasp on this task. Love love love it.

Wow. Really impressed with your stacking in this one. I feel like you really stepped out of your comfort zone and tried to combine a bunch of different lines and you created something so beautifully harmonious. Love the little touches you threw in there to keep your attention: the raven, milk jug, envelope and ugh that window is so cute. Settling the house between the rocks really helped to make it feel cozy.

Perfect job of staying within your chosen color palette. I would say this palette of brown, beige and orange is a little safe, but the structure of your build is impeccable and you made it work beautifully.

I really love the way the pulley directs my attention to the vertical nature of the build. It’s a really different approach that I don’t see very often. The main thing that is missing me is something to make this POP. There is a small pop with the yellow/orange tones, but not as much as I would like. Also the wall feels a bit heavy handed. Wish it was a little more organic and used one or two more furni for its construction or was less rectangular.

This is my favorite color palette of the week. This little bungalow is absolutely gorgeous. I love how even the light shining out of the lower level fits with the rest of the room. Keep up the good work!

You definitely got a solidified color palette, but I think that’s part of the reason why this is lacking. It fills up the entirety of the size limit, which makes it feel really tight. I feel like there wasn’t a lot of thought put into the construction to make it visually engaging. I would have liked a more interesting layout of the building or a story I can follow through the floors; they each feel separate from one another even though they share the same color palette.

Very original concept for this task! I love the creativity and details put into this underwater contraption. I can clearly see that blue, brown and gold were the three colors you focused on. However, there are some greens spread throughout the room, as well as splotches of random colors that could have been avoided.

You took on a really interesting idea, of having this submarine like structure, but the inception of squares is a turn off. I am a sucker for the evil desk, and the use of the bubbles and the fan, but it’s not enough to keep my eye on the build. Also really brave to make a build with hc glass! Just think the various furniture are too apparent which takes away from the feeling of being submersed (pun intended) in the scene.

I really enjoy the details put into this build! I am having a bit of a hard time figuring out which 3 colors were your focus as I see heavy amounts of brown, orange, yellow, and grey. I think that the orange details could have been left out to refine the palette more. Very sound build but a little off from the task.

Ok I hate to be that person (but then again not really) but I am confused about the elevation of the building. Is it on the ground? Above ground? Idk! Anyways, I am a sucker for little houses so naturally I do like the structure, love the browns you used, the gravel, grass, rot up top is a nice touch. But something about the golds/orange is a bit jarring. Feels a bit too forced. Also, not a fan of the gray concrete block in the front.

This room is adorable! It reminds me of a secret room I’d find in a Zelda game. You stayed within your color palette of green, blue and grey/marble. Great job with the details in the lower half. The structure of this room is beautiful, until you get to the top of the room. I think that the Venetian dividers/corner was a little safe and does not look as rustic as the rest of the room. Overall great job with this task.

You surprised me with this build. Although the shape could be a little more organic, it feels like a space you would want to be in. The touch of fog, the little blue flowers, the sculpture, those little bits of color really help to tie everything together… And I’m weirdly drawn to the shell in the bottom left corner. Just really great use of color. My only issue with the build is the dividers along the top. I think they are unnecessary and take our attention away from the intimacy of the scene.

Super original idea for this task. When thinking of an idea for a limited color palette, a jail cell would not be expected as everything in jail is usually the same color. However, you made this work! I love the contrast between the grey/black and red. Structurally, this room could not have been better.

Honestly I am a bit torn about what I think of this build. I like the pops of red, as it helps focus attention on the main aspects of the build. I think you used a lot of similarly colored things in a creative way (the hamburger maker for example). However I think this needs more of a narrative to it. The major blocks of red seem isolated from each other. I’m not exactly sure what I am looking at. Later, knowing it was a prison, it made a bit more sense. I do like the thought put into the observation area, but idk it seems too nice for prison or something.

Absolutely phenomenal job with this task. Almost every single piece of furniture used is within the palette of green, brown and grey. That is saying a lot considering how many small details were put into it. I just wish that you would have left out the yellow fruit in the center, as it sticks out being the only yellow in the room. You clearly put the work in though, and it paid off!

I like the pop of the green against the tan/gray tones. Helps make it interesting. Always wanted to use the ladder for smuggler’s lookout in a build so I am pleased you were able to make it work. Also love the army tent, but it feels hidden by the weight of everything else. I think that’s my biggest gripe. Is that there is just too much going on. Wish there was a little more focus on what is actually taking place within this space. It feels more like a brainstorm than tied together build.

I’m having a hard time understanding this build. I see a fair amount of several colors including brown, grey, blue, teal and white. I do like that you went for contrasting colors, but it wasn’t as appealing as I would have hoped for. The structure is a little confusing as the stairway leads directly into a fountain. I do like the creativity with this build, however I do not think the task was grasped fully.

Wow. That strong diagonal line this build makes my eye take... just wooowe. You did a really great job of drawing the viewers eye through the composition. The blues are a really subtle pop to this peaceful scene. Tall fountain helps balance the height of the window. I think you took a lot of risks in this one with the variety of furniture that you used and I THINK IT PAID OFF. It feels ~other worldly~ and I love that about it.

Congratulations tallmolly08 on your first task win of the competition. You created the most awe inspiring build this week and coined the first place spot. Well done! You're a force to be reckoned with and we look forward to see what you do next.

True-Courage fell short of our expectations in this competition. Being a seasoned builder we figured given the opportunity to prove yourself, you would be more driven. That wasn't the case.

Anderge created an abundance of uniquely crafted designs in this competition, the likes of which we've never seen. We hold you up as part of the definition for this competition. Taking an everyday builder and challenging them enough to create room designs that inspire everyone. You did amazing!
