Task 5

APOCALYPSE

Welcome to Task 5 of Builders Corp. 3.

This week we urge you to create a build affected by an apocalyptic disaster of your choice.

Be as elaborate as you can to tell a story trough the construction of your design.

Weirdly enough I enjoy this room a lot. The palette is moody and dark and perfectly captures the essence of a catastrophic afterwards. The flatulent green goo gives the room a unique narrative. I do believe the room would be compositionally better if the floor was one space shorter in one side.

This is quite literal in the sense that it ticks every box imaginable in relation to the task at hand. The terrain is littered with remnants of the post apocalyptic life. The stones and combination of soil are layered quite harmoniously. It lets you see the different aspects you incorporated because of its contrast. The car crashing into the rock was a clever take on this task. Overall, I think you incorporated some pretty intricate and unique details into this build. The flooring and use of layering over the road is what won me over. Good stuff, keep it up.

There's no obvious repugnance or wrongness about this room but it also fails to make me excited. There's major high skilled stacking going around but overall it fails in portraying a unique idea. I do like some aspects of it but at this point on the competition we need the extraordinary. The colours are a bit all over the place. I do enjoy the use of monster plants but they fail to be highlighted with all this other stuff going on around them.

This was a tough pill to swallow. There are some pretty great details entwined in the conceptual build you created. I just find the concept you chose got out of hand; it's evident in the build that the foliage you incorporated was used to conceal some of the architecture. I wish you showed us more of the building itself, rather than greenery which was expected. I've seen renditions of this concept before, not to say it's a bad room. It's not by any means. At this stage of the competition we need to achieve more and I feel this fell short. Thanks.

There are some errors with this but also some intriguing bits. I'm not a fan of the shape nor the way some of the furni is clipped sloppily. It holds true to your style but not your potential. The idea and some details in this are very intriguing. I like the story i get from this. In order to go further in this competition I would like to see you perfect your style and edit the rooms out more, especially in terms of shape and composition.

Interesting. Upon first glance, I didn't love the room. It wasn't until I broke it down to think how this could play out in an apocalyptic setting; that's when I realized it oddly works well with the task given. The visual integrity is true to your unique and sensible style. There are definitely some flaws with the way some of the layered furniture takes away from that below/above it. That being said, I really enjoy the tone and creativity this evokes. The idea to have the setting be in the snow was clever, the steam rising off the top of the encampment was a nice touch. Overall, I think you have a great attention to thematics and the task given. Hone those stacking skills to make the scene not as overbearing and you'll be cruising to the finale. Good stuff.

At first glance this room is really striking. Further inspecting it you do notice some unsightly stuff. The foliage detail repeats from top to bottom on the same spots, this takes away the organic feel of the room. I don't mind the height but I do not like how repetitive and unresolved the extra floor is. If you weren't going to add something different on the third floor, the room would be better off without it altogether. A cute room with some detail-related mistakes.

Had you shown us a difference between the top 2 floors this would have fared better in our judgment process. The idea to have 2 of the same stack in that close of a proximity is redundant. Perhaps leaving the door ajar, or having the balcony damaged; something unique to the theme. This could have been fantastic. That being said, there are so many good things about the construction of this design. I love the colours and the way you approached placement in the room. Leaving the negative space on the wall really makes your work stand out. I definitely see this in an apocalyptic setting. Keep working on refining your abilities into something that tells a whole story. You do that and you'll be in the finale.

Another great room with intriguing shapes and unique composition. My favourite thing about your rooms is how you give this idea of space awareness and an organic flow from one side to the other. The details are fitting, the hints of the object being lived-in give you an idea of the narrative you were going with. Yet another strong week for you.

The shape of this build is stunning. It's within the confines of the maximum room size but it looks so much bigger. With the use of the 'upper level' you've created something totally unique. The palette is muted but is balanced with the pops of colours you sporadically placed in the design. The concept is clear and tells a compelling story. I applaud you for the combination of roofing you tied into the design, clever work. Overall this is another strong build full of impactful stacking and intricate details. Great job.

I do not have a good reaction to this room. I don't mind the use of the trailer but it feels a bit flat and unresolved. I think it needed something else added to it. The foliage is nicely stacked but overall gives you a generic take on the task. You could have done with less trees. The only thing that I particularly like are the floor details. It gives you that perfect impression of an abandoned, unkeptness where the plant life had to grow around it.

The idea of a trailer in an apocalypse is very appropriate. However, i'm left hunkering for something more. The combination of unorthodox furniture to replace common aspects to the trailer is missing. I wish you had created more architectural aspects to break up the monotony. That being said, there are several details that won me over. The shape of the floor jetting out with the use of the rocks was admirable. I like how the rocks look scattered off the cobbled patch. The combination of flooring stacked in the corner is unique and works well with the task. I also really liked the sprouting plants on the top of the trailer as well as the bamboo peaking through. Overall I know you're capable of much more and I know you won't fail to show us that.

I love the idea of this. It's visual, graphic and unique. The narrative is compelling but the overall effect feels flat. The room feels rushed and unresolved. I also think you could have easily fixed some errors in the room like lifting the gray roofs just a bit to match the height of the wall and venetian blocks. The lamp could have been put under the roofs etc. Please take your time with your rooms. The magic is there just not polished enough.

The colours are swoon worthy. You really captured an aesthetic. Your take on an apocalypse is unique and refreshing. You showed us the aftermath. Destruction. The building you created is purposefully deconstructed to tell your story. I really enjoy that. The spout leading to the watering can is such a beautiful touch. I like the camp vibe and attributes you pushed to fully convey your thought process. Overall this is a powerful design. Keep up the great work.

Congratulations Ejvind11 on your second task win of the competition. You're climbing the ladder and creating visually compelling designs worthy of respect from your peers.

..havermout.. becomes the next builder to be eliminated from the competition. We've only scratched the surface of your full potential. We hope you were as inspired by our tasks this time around as we were by your builds. You're a fantastic builder worthy of praise. Keep up the great work, we know you did .NL proud. Thanks Haver.
